The taluka of Wasna (also spelled Vasna), which includes six villages(, is on the banks of the Sabarmati river in northern Gujarat. It consists of two separate blocks of territory of comparable size, enclaved within the western reaches of the Mehsana district of Baroda. The southern block lies to the northeast of Pethapur. The Sadra Bazaar area, where the headquarters of the Sabar Kantha Agency are located, is leased by the thakor to the Agency. The thakor also has 14 wanta villages within Baroda that are the subject of constant disputes with the Gaekwad’s government.
Vasna (Dolarana) was the ruler of Vasna, who a Rathod Rajput claimed his descent from the house of Rav Jodhaji of Jodhpur, Bhankharji, the brother of Rav Jodhaji obtained Prantij Paragana as a gift from Emperor of Delhi. He constructed a tank at Prantij, which is known as Bhankhariya Talav at present. Bhankharji had 12 sons. His second son Katarmal's son Dudhaji killed Chauhan Rajputs of Chhala and took possession of 27 village of Chhala Patta in 1952. After the death of Duthaji, Devisinh, Kahansinh, Madansinh and Bhathisinh ascended the gadi respectively

SALUTE, JURISDICTION, ADMINISTRATION: The thakor of Wasna used to rank in the Fifth Class of Mahi Kantha chiefs before classes were abolished in 1928. He exercises restricted civil and criminal jurisdiction. Wasna pays tribute to Baroda.

RULING FAMILY:
The ruling family of Wasna are Rathor Rajputs who came to Gujarat in 1476 and received a grant of land, first in Prantij and then (1506) in Chhalla, near Sadra. After being expelled from their original holdings, they finally settled at Wasna in 1629. The rule of primogeniture is followed.
